Redress Scotland’s Response
Redress Scotland are an independent body responsible for making decisions on applications for redress. We then tell the Scottish Government the outcome of the decisions and they are responsible for making financial redress payments. As such, Redress Scotland does not hold information on the number of applications that have been made.
You may be able to request this information from Scottish Government. Freedom of Information Scottish Government. Under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act Scotland 2002, where public authorities receive requests for information that they do not hold, they must issue notice advising that they do not hold the requested information.
However, I can advise that, to 28 March 2022, Redress Scotland has determined 30 outcomes, from the 47 claims received. Redress Scotland does not measure success in terms of financial payment, instead we measure the number of outcomes determined.
